iPhone 8 Bezel-Free

It’s been a while since I last visited Deviantart and I seem to have missed the works of the excellent designer KaKoten. I’ve just come across two of his concepts, both focused on minimal bezels and some of the most awaited devices of the moment: Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8. Let’s start with the iPhone 8!

He’s showing us a device that gets an extra physical button, unless the Mute button suddenly became bigger. The Home button is virtual and embedded within the screen. The screen seems to adopt the curved corners of the LG G6 and Galaxy S8, which may not be such a bad idea. I’m guessing this is an OLED panel and screen to body ratio goes way past 80%.

There’s something about this concept that simply screams “Samsung” to me… It feels a bit too much like the Galaxy S8, but at the same time the Home button may just decide the differences. Meanwhile the Galaxy Note 8 is a rather standard affair, the likes of which we’ve seen a lot over the past years: a slab of glass and metal, with a wider body than the S8 and curved sides and corners.
The Infinity Display is still here, but the corners seem less curved. It will be very interesting how Samsung includes both a curved edge screen and also hides a stylus within a slot that would go below the curved part, without making the device too thick.
